George Everett, Executive Director, Main Street Butte, Montana
George Everett has more than twenty years of a variety of business experience in Southwest Montana. Everett has been a small business owner, operating a small consulting firm that provides Internet and editorial business assistance to about 25 businesses primarily in Butte, but also in Anaconda, Dillon, Missoula, Philipsburg, and Bozeman. In 1999, he launched a retail business portal site,
ButteAmerica.com, which continues to showcase Butte’s retail sector to a broader trade area. In 2007, George published his second book titled
Butte Trivia. His first, titled
Champagne in a Tin Cup was published in 1995. He is the author of numerous magazine articles, and his writing and photography have appeared in numerous national, regional and local periodicals. Since October 2002, George has been responsible for the Mainstreet Uptown Butte program as its Executive Director (

This four-point approach incorporates design, promotion, organization and economic restructuring to rejuvenate Butte’s Historic Uptown business district to make it a cleaner, greener, safer and livelier location to work and play. Since then, the organization has planted more than 500 street trees and illuminated eight of the headframes that dot the Butte Hill. In this role he has been responsible for Mainstreet’s biggest challenge since its inception – landing the National Folk Festival for Butte and Southwest Montana through the summer of 2010. George lives on Butte’s Upper West side near the Anselmo Mineyard with his wife Barbara and his son Ben.
