John Porterfield, Concrete Producer, Fertilizer Producer, Marketing Consultant, Porter Block, Inc., Whitefish, Montana
Porter Block owner John Porterfield will share his vision on the future of tailings, abandoned mines and the mining industry. John's love for the environment and upbringing in mining provide him with a rare perspective and unique drive to solve the four primary obstacles in new mine development – environmental opposition, permitting, high operational costs and long term liabilities. After partnering with the World Center for Concrete Technology in Alpena, MI and years of intensive independent tailings research, Porter Block has discovered significant affordable uses for what was once considered "waste" which will benefit the mining company, regional environment, education systems, local economics and energy.
Some of Porter Block's tailing research and interviews will be shared during the conference, as well as critical evaluation and feedback from regulatory agencies, delegates, environmental groups and community leaders. Also plans for upcoming demonstrations of mine waste utilization will be shared, as well as opportunities to participate. For more research information or to get involved contact Porter Block, Inc.
